Ottawa Independent Short Film Festival
Engaging discussions with filmmakers and industry experts.
About Us
The Film Society produces The Ottawa Independent Short Film Festival (OISFF) every June. In addition to curating the best in international cinema, OISFF has come to be known as the first stop on the road to the Academy Awards® and our Oscar®-qualifying ShortFest is the largest short film festival and market in North America. Our festivals and year-round programs manifest our organization's mission by nurturing and encouraging new filmmaking talent, honoring the great masters of world cinema, and expanding audience horizons.
Our Mission
Nurturing Talent & Celebrating Diversity
We are committed to discovering and supporting emerging filmmakers from around the world. Our festival embraces the rich tapestry of global cinema, showcasing films that represent diverse cultures, perspectives, and storytelling styles. We believe in the power of film to foster understanding and bridge cultural divides.
Advancing Film Art & Community Engagement
We strive to push the boundaries of cinematic art by featuring innovative and experimental works alongside traditional narratives. Beyond the festival, we are dedicated to fostering a vibrant film culture in Ottawa through year-round screenings, educational programs, and community partnerships. We aim to make cinema accessible and engaging for all.
